Axis Bank Limited, headquartered in Mumbai, is an Indian financial services corporation. It was one of the first private banks after the Government of India allowed constitution of new private banks in India. Axis Bank ((erstwhile UTI Bank) was promoted jointly by the Administrator of the Specified Undertaking of the Unit Trust of India (UTI-I), General Insurance Corporation Ltd., Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), National Insurance Company Ltd., The Oriental Insurance Corporation, The New India Assurance Company and United India Insurance Company.
Axis Bank has its registered office in Ahmedabad and corporate office in Mumbai. Apart from India, the bank has its branches in Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, Shanghai, Abu Dhabi, colombo and London.
Axis Bank has a network of more than 1947 branches and 11245 ATMs. The bank operates one of the world’s highest ATM sites at Thegu, Sikkim at a height of 4023.4 metres (13,200 ft) above sea level. The bank offer treasury operations, NRI banking, retail banking, corporate and wholesale banking.
